Menlo School Chamber Orchestra Page Forty musicians strong, students of the Menlo School Chamber Orchestra in grades 9 through 12, meet as a class and perform various concerts on and off campus and during school activities, assemblies, and ceremonial occasions. The orchestra performs standard repertoire for symphony and chamber orchestra, welcoming instrumentalists of intermediate to advanced musical ability into a warm and fun-loving community of performers. Our goal is to achieve the highest possible standard of musical interpretation and performance while supporting musical growth and enjoyment of musicmaking. VICKY GREENBAUM founded Menlo Chamber Orchestra ten years ago with six musicians in a lunchtime club. In the intervening years, the group has grown into a full orchestra with strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion. Prior to arriving at Menlo, Vicky Greenbaum founded two other orchestras, in New York and Massachusetts. More recently, she founded the Summer Brass Institute in cooperation with members of Bay Brass, designed to provide pre-professional training to collegiate and other young brass players. She also worked with David Finckel and Wu Han to found the Music@Menlo chamber music workshops. Prior to beginning work with young musicians, she attended music school and worked as a professional violinist. |
