Menlo Drama The Drama Program at Menlo School works to make itself available to all students with the philosophy that participation in Drama strengthens personal creativity, builds self-confidence and gives each participant many organizational, social and presentational skills with which to enhance any lifetime area of interest or involvement. All plays are cast by audition in order to give everyone a chance to participate in production. Substantial involvement in the technical aspects of theatre is also available to interested students. Menlo Drama stages four major productions a year:
In addition, the 24-Hour Original One-Acts requires no audition. Check the Fine Arts Calendar for current year dates. All interested students automatically participate. Two beginning level drama classes and one advanced level drama class are offered during the school day. Drama classes present performances from six to eight times a year. The program also sponsors a Musical Club, an Improvisation Club and offers a Drama class for freshman as part of the Freshman Arts Rotation. ELIZABETH ORR is the Drama Teacher and Director at the Menlo Upper School. She earned a BA from UC Berkeley, traveled extensively and attended the ACT Professional Actor's Training Program in San Francisco before moving to New York City. She has worked as an actor, director, and teacher in many states and countries. As a lifelong lover of the theatre, she cherishes the opportunity to pass on her enthusiasm to Menlo students.
