Menlo School and Parents for Safe Teens to Produce EVERY 15 MINUTES
Program in Spring 2007 (E15/MENL’07)
Every 15 Minutes is a nationally endorsed, emotionally-charged program
designed to challenge students to think about drinking, personal safety,
and the responsibility of making mature decisions when human lives
are involved. With the help of parents, students, teachers, administrators,
and local law enforcement/fire/hospital/legal officials, an alcohol-related
traffic accident and its ripple effects are staged and recorded in
a real-life scenario without the real-life risks. If this issue interests
you, please join our highly-motivated team.
We need parent volunteers to help in several areas, specifically:
- Treasurer to track expenditures against the grant monies and donations.
(accounting/spreadsheet experience a plus).
- Secretary to keep the meeting minutes and
distribute to members of the E15 team.
- Fundraising/gifts in-kind coordinator (most
funds will come from a CHP grant).
- Parent coordinators for assistance in
staging of the crash scene and the emergency response to the victims at the scene (a husband/wife
team would work well here). Will interface with volunteers from local
law enforcement/fire/emergency response teams.
- Parent coordinators for assistance in
staging of the jail/courtroom scenes (legal experience a plus). Will interface with volunteers
from local law enforcement/legal agencies.
- Parents available for miscellaneous
assignments during the two
weeks leading up to the late April or early May event, and on the
event days themselves. All levels of time commitment/skill levels
welcome.
A project plan based on the 2003 program is already in place outlining
the responsibilities for each position. For more information about
E15/MENL’07 and the tasks involved with each volunteer position,
please contact Emily Risberg as soon as possible at
,
(c) 650-862-1382, (h) 650-494-2540. We need to fill these positions
by the end of this academic year so we can hit the ground running in
September. Thank you!
